Do You Realize Your Unimaginable Worth?
Do You Realize Your Unimaginable Worth?
This comes from a sermon by Pastor Bob, and it’s one that we’ve been reflecting on deeply. Pastor Bob shared a striking story about Vincent van Gogh that truly demonstrated our value in God’s sight!
Take a look at this picture. It's Vincent van Gogh’s self-portrait—but not just any portrait. He painted this after he had cut off his own ear. His life was troubled, to say the least. He was in and out of insane asylums, he battled his own demons, and was even close friends with a prostitute. And yet, through all of that turmoil, Vincent chose to paint himself in this raw, unfiltered way—bandaged ear and all.
This painting is an example of just how broken he was. It’s real. It’s painful. And it’s a stark reminder of how much he needed healing, how much he needed Jesus. He captured a moment of deep pain, but, as Pastor Bob pointed out, the crazy part is that now, decades later, this same painting, this same broken portrayal of his struggles, is worth millions.
The truth is, God sees us just like that. He sees our brokenness, our struggles, and our low points due to sin. Just like Vincent’s self-portrait, we are messy, imperfect, and hurting in so many ways. But here’s the miracle: God doesn’t just stop at seeing our flaws—He also sees our unimaginable worth. He sees who we can become, through Him.
That’s why Jesus came to earth—to redeem us, to restore the relationship we lost, to heal our brokenness. And it’s through His grace that we are transformed.
So, here’s the question: Do you realize the unimaginable value you have before God? He died for you, for your pain, for your brokenness. And for those who may not know His salvation, I’d love to talk more about what that means.
For those of us who do know Him, are we fully grasping the immense value we hold before God? I think it’s a truth we need to reflect on every day.
Let’s pray this week, and let’s remember that we are deeply loved, deeply valued, and deeply worth saving..
