Shame, Blame, and the Curse
Mar 15, 2026 • Pastor Bob White
The sermon continues through Genesis 3, showing how Adam and Eve’s sin immediately brings shame, fear, and hiding—from God and one another. Their fig leaves and blame-shifting illustrate how we still cover up, deflect, and use “masks,” even religion, to avoid facing our sin. The curse affects every part of life: work, marriage, pain, and ultimately death, as creation itself is broken. Yet God pursues them in the garden, just as he pursues us in Christ. True Christian maturity is ongoing repentance and trust in Jesus, who alone can fill our “God-shaped hole” and begin restoring creation.
